Current world number 19, Dejan Presen, cruised to the finishing line to win the first event of this year's European Match Race Tour held in Sibenik in February. As the tour continues, contestants prepare for their arrival further down the Adriatic to compete in Montenegro's waters this March.
The first race took place at the Wave Sailing Centre on Croatia's Dalmatian coast, with light Mediterranean winds providing the ideal sailing conditions for a smooth and easy victory for Presen, who demonstrated outstanding performance, with local spectators joining in numbers to show support from the nearby promenade in Sibenik city.
As he reflects on his achievements in Sibenik, Presen and fellow sailors prepare for the March Regatta, this time, in Tivat, the home of Porto Montenegro.
“This is a really great start for the European Tour in 2018” explained Presen. “We are so happy to take our first event win of the Tour as we came very close last season but failed to claim a victory in 2017. We really look forward to the next event in Montenegro!”.
The second event of the tour will take place at Porto Montenegro from 16-18 March and will be co-hosted by none other than the Porto Montenegro Yacht Club. The race forms part of the club's continually growing calendar of regattas, and welcomes local and international sailors to compete in the waters of the UNSECO protected Boka Bay and wider Montenegrin coast.
