The PMYC are very proud to announce three new Powerboat Instructors – Damir Rajcevic, Aleksandar Calovic and Luka Radonjic qualified on 5th June and are among the first Montenegrin instructors in the region. The RYA Powerboat Instructors course can be taught in a variety of small open powerboats such as RIBs, dories and sports boats and is aimed at a variety of users from casual leisure boaters to professional small boat skippers. Instructor should experienced for a variety of boats and hold five seasons experience of power-boating logged or one season using powerboats as an integral part of their full-time occupation.
Damir, Sasa and Luka are very experienced RIB drivers and as with many of the locals growing up in the area, offshore life has been integral to them since a young age. The three-day RYA course is followed by an assessment day with an independent trainer. Damir, Sasa and Luka are now qualified to teach up to and including Powerboat Level 2 under the supervision of the Principal or Chief Instructor. The certificate is valid for five years from the date of issue, once a valid first-aid certificate is maintained.
These instructors are now qualified to teach at any RYA Centre in the world. We wish them the very best and look forward to working with them as well as providing them with a platform for a solid student base.
After many years of experience in the water, this is a big step forward to me. I am happy that I will be able to pass on some of my knowledge and skills to others who are passionate about boats and water. I am excited to help my future students enjoy this sport and all the recreational opportunities alongside, Luka commented.
